Report: NFL denies Josh Gordon's reinstatement petition

The NFL has denied suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon's reinstatement petition, a source told Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports.

Gordon can apply again this fall, added Pelissero.

The wideout applied for reinstatement from his indefinite ban on March 1 after completing a stint in rehab. His business manager, Michael Johnson, said at the time that Gordon was living with him and "is in the best place mentally that he has been in dating back years before entering the NFL."

However, the receiver is reportedly having issues with his other representation. Gordon has had three agents during his career, and his most recent one ended their relationship "about two weeks ago," ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Gordon turned 26 years old in April and hasn't played in the NFL since a five-game stint in late 2014.

Sashi Brown, Cleveland's executive vice president of football operations, said the team wasn't in a position to turn away a talent like Gordon if he regained his position in the NFL.

However, Gordon posted a message to Snapchat in early April that indicated he might be done with Cleveland:
