Weird Week in Football: Doughnuts, pints, and unusual sights

Every Monday, theScore will highlight the most outlandish moments from the wacky, sometimes daft, and perennially entertaining world of football. Here's what made us smile - or cringe - on the pitch this past week.

While it's going to be hard to top Diego Costa's bizarre Chelsea celebrations, there's no harm in trying. Without further ado, here's the Weird Week in Football:

House of Uncommon sights

By golly, that is Watford first-choice shot-stopper Heurelho Gomes hanging out near Parliament Square on Sunday sporting his Hornets' colours. This begs two questions: why, and if you tag a footballer on Twitter, will he actually check his mentions?

Doughnuts for all

Five unanswered against Guimaraes was good enough to give Benfica a fourth Portuguese title on the trot, and full-back Eliseu took the trophy celebrations to another level by doing doughnuts on a moped post-match. Brilliant stuff that.

Magpies trio toast Grealish goal

Newcastle's victory over Barnsley secured the Magpies a top-flight return, but it was Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish's leveller against Brighton that handed Rafa Benitez's lot the Championship crown.

The Solihull son with short socks and even shorter sides dipped into Isaac Hayden's mentions to remind the Newcastle defender of his efforts ...

... after which former Villans mate Ciaran Clark and current Newcastle teammates Grant Hanley and Dwight Gayle decided the best way to repay the favour was to take Grealish out for a proper pint. Just the one, Jackie boy.

Mic check with Wojciech

Roma 'keeper Wojciech Szczesny appears to be enjoying his extended stay in the Italian capital, and teeming with cheeky tendencies picked up after joining Arsenal as a 16-year-old, the Polish international has been handed the hosting duties of "The Szczesny Show."

In the show's first episode, tough tackler Radja Nainggolan sat down with i Giallorossi's No. 1, and the interview does not disappoint, with the Belgian as charismatic off the pitch as he's likely to contribute to an opponent's compound fracture on it. Have a look:

Szczesny also sat down with Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and oft-injured Dutch international Kevin Strootman, as the towering on-loan shot-stopper transitions seamlessly to a post-playing career as Graham Norton's heir apparent.

The Ground and the Fury

While the Canadian Championship provides a forum for the country's second-tier sides to eventually lose to Toronto FC, Vancouver Whitecaps, or Montreal Impact, it's also a brilliant opportunity to make a fool of one's self.

Ottawa Fury 'keeper Callum Irving did exactly that, gifting Edmonton's Jacob Keegan a sneaky finish.

Luckily for Irving, his Ottawa side would take the two-leg aggregate tilt 4-2, advancing to the semi-final where the USL debutant will lock horns with red-hot TFC.
