ACC announces Notre Dame matchups through 2037

Matt Cashore / USA TODAY Sports

The ACC will continue its partnership with Notre Dame long term, as it announced Thursday future matchups for its teams against the Fighting Irish through the 2037 season.

Here is, essentially, what you need to know:

Clemson and Virginia Tech are scheduled to get the Irish on Labor Day Monday night games in 2031 and 2036, respectively.

"The ACC's football partnership with Notre Dame has been extremely successful throughout our first four seasons," ACC commissioner John Swofford said in a statement. "As we look to the future, these games will continue to enhance the experience for our players, schools and fans."

Notre Dame has played an average of five ACC teams per year since 2014, when it struck the scheduling agreement with the conference. Notre Dame continues to operate independent of a conference in football.
