South Florida's Strong has 'positive' meeting with Tampa judge

Just one week ago, Hillsborough Judge Margaret Taylor was questioning whether South Florida's Charlie Strong has control over his players in the wake of former defensive end LaDarrius Jackson's sexual assault charge.

Time may in fact heal all wounds, as the two appear to have patched things up during a courthouse meeting Tuesday, according to Sue Carlton of The Tampa Bay Times.

"It was a very positive conversation," Chief Judge Ron Ficarrotta told Carlton. Strong agreed to meet with Taylor in the chief judge's chambers, where the two spoke for approximately 10 minutes.

"I think Coach Strong was able to educate Judge Taylor on some of the issues," Ficarrotta said. "It went very well."

Brian Siegrist, associate director for communication for South Florida athletics, also gave positive reviews of the discussion, calling it "a very good meeting on both sides. And they both left with a good understanding."

In her initial address, Taylor questioned Strong's ability to control his players' off-field behavior, and also added, "I would implore you to think long and hard about whether being head coach at USF is a good fit for you, before any other members of this community have to suffer at the hands of one of your players."

Jackson was later arrested Wednesday on sexual battery and false imprisonment charges, his second arrest of the month.
