Police apprehend escaped ex-Oregon TE Lyerla after alleged overdose

Scott Olmos / US PRESSWIRE

The search for former Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla is over.

After escaping from the Washington County Community Correction Center on Thursday evening through a window, Lyerla was discovered by police after they received a report of a man overdosing on drugs, according to Tony Hernandez of The Oregonian.

Lyerla, who was previously arrested for forgery, drug possession, and driving under the influence of intoxicants, was "awake and responsive," according to police, but attempted yet again to flee while being taken to an ambulance. He was recaptured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Because he escaped from the community correction center, he won't be allowed back into the facility. He's set to be booked into the Washington County jail after his release from hospital, according to Hillsboro police spokesperson Lt. Henry Reimann.
