Georgia Tech punter leaving school to become a priest

Grant Aasen is leaving Georgia Tech to head to Notre Dame, but it's not the move most college football fans expect.

The Yellow Jackets punter has opted against playing his final season and will enroll at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans to begin his journey toward the Catholic priesthood.

"I really didn't make my final decision until last weekend right before I told Coach (Paul) Johnson," Aasen told Jon Cooper of the school's athletics website. "... That's where God's calling me to go. He's calling me to go now and not next year. I love football. If I wasn't going to seminary, I'd be coming back - there'd be no question about it. I just know that at some point I just realized, I'm called to go."

Aasen only appeared in one game in his Georgia Tech career, punting once for 42 yards.
