Alford becomes 11th Blue Jay on DL after fracturing wrist

Even the reinforcements can't stay healthy.

The Blue Jays placed outfielder Anthony Alford on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with a left hamate (wrist) fracture, making him the fourth Toronto outfielder and the 11th team player currently on the DL.

Alford made his major-league debut last Friday, with his call-up due to the number of injuries. He appeared in four games and went 1-for-8 with a double and three strikeouts.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons told reporters he's not sure how long Alford will be sidelined, but said four-to-six weeks is possible, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.

Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton broke the hamate bone in his left hand in June 2015 and missed the remainder of the season.

Blue Jays players Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki, J.A. Happ, Francisco Liriano, Aaron Sanchez, Dalton Pompey, Darrell Ceciliani, and Steve Pearce are all currently on the 10-day DL, while Bo Schultz and Glenn Sparkman are on the 60-day DL.
