'Double MMA': Markieff promises even more physicality vs. Hawks

Paul Millsap should probably wear protective padding anywhere he can for Game 2 between the Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks.

Millsap called out the Wizards - Markieff Morris in particular - for "playing MMA" in Game 1 while the Hawks were playing basketball. But since it clearly worked for the Wizards on Sunday, they're planning for more of the same on Wednesday.

"If that's MMA, then what we do next might be double MMA," Morris vowed before Game 2, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

"They said we wrestling so I guess they don’t have a choice but to come out and play tougher. It is what is. We ain’t going to stop our intensity because of what they say. We’re going to keep playing as hard as possible and playoff basketball."

The battle at power forward between Morris and Millsap quickly became the focal point after their various run-ins during Game 1. The two exchanged words during the game, wrestled one another for a loose ball, and now the trash talk has spilled over to the postgame podium.

"We’ve got our own adjustments so we’re basically worried about ourselves. I heard Millsap saying they don’t want Brad (Beal) and John (Wall) to score as much and they want to let us score - basically is what he’s saying. We’re going to adjust to that real well," Morris added.

"We’re going to stay physical and stay playing MMA basketball."
