Tigers land No.1 pick in 2018 MLB Draft

The Detroit Tigers' rebuild will receive a quick boost next summer when the club makes the first overall selection in the 2018 MLB Draft.

The Tigers finished in a tie with the San Francisco Giants for the worst record in the majors, but will receive the top pick because they finished with less wins in 2016, which serves as the tiebreaker.

It's only the second time in franchise history that Detroit will make the first pick. The club selected right-hander Matt Anderson first overall in 1997.
