Watch: Tebow smashes HR in 1st Single-A at-bat

Joshua S. Kelly / USA TODAY Sports

That's right haters, Tim Tebow wasted no time in upping his stock in his first Single-A at-bat with the Columbia Fireflies on Thursday. Not only did he hit a two-run home run, he took Augusta GreenJackets pitcher Domenic Mazza over the opposite-field fence.

Tebow didn't hit a home run during his spring training stint with the New York Mets, or during 71 plate appearances in the Arizona Fall League, but this is a positive step for the aspiring slugger / former quarterback.

The home run came as a surprise to even Tebow, who stopped at second base because he thought it was a double. There was a 15-mph wind blowing toward the stands, but a home run is a home run at the end of the day.
