McIlroy roasts former pro golfer in epic fashion after 'bored' comment

Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Rory McIlroy may have missed the cut at the U.S. Open, but the world's second-ranked player definitely took home the trophy for Twitter burn of the week.

Former PGA Tour player Steve Elkington chimed in on McIlroy's performance, claiming he was "bored" playing golf and that he's happy with his four majors and $100 million in the bank.

McIlroy quickly let him know he was about $100 million off, listing the numerous achievements he's already accomplished in his career.

Elkington had a fine career on the PGA Tour, winning more than $15 million to rank 97th on the all-time money list, but that pales in comparison to the Northern Irishman's earnings.

McIlroy has made more than $60 million in career prize money from the European and PGA Tours and has 10-year endorsement deals with Nike and TaylorMade that net him around $20 million annually. He also has a number of other endorsement deals that pad his yearly income further.
