Romo expecting hiccups as broadcaster: 'I'm gonna mess up a lot'

Tony Romo knows his transition to broadcasting won't be a mistake-free process.

After a one-hour introductory media session Tuesday, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback had plenty more to say when speaking with 105.3 The Fan on Wednesday.

Romo expects to face some hiccups, but he's hoping his humor will cover up the gaffes.

"I'm gonna mess up a lot. I'm going to make mistakes," said Romo, according to Mike Leslie of WFAA. "But that's how you learn, that's how you get better."

He added: "You know me. I'm funny."

Romo said he hasn't reached out to any other players-turned-broadcasters yet - a list that includes fellow former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman - though he plans on "studying the people who were very gifted," just as he did as a player.

One thing he does expect to be ready for is his first game covering the Cowboys, when he will have a chance to host a production meeting with head coach Jason Garrett.

"Oh, I'm definitely going to win the wits battle," said Romo.

Romo also revealed that he wasn't ready to make a decision in early March, when he posted a farewell video to the Cowboys, but looking back "it seems like an easy decision" to join the CBS team.
