Raptors call Lance's layup 'bush league' and 'disrespectful'
The Toronto Raptors were still steaming about Lance Stephenson's needless layup well after the game was done.
Stephenson was confronted by a pack of Raptors after tacking on a layup instead of simply holding onto the ball as the game clock expired on a 108-90 victory for the Indiana Pacers over the Toronto Raptors.
DeMar DeRozan told Sportsnet's Eric Smith that the play was "disrespectful to the game," while Raptors head coach Dwane Casey called it "bush league."
P.J. Tucker, who traded words with Stephenson for most of the fourth, poured it on in the postgame scrum.
"Tasteless. Classless. There’s nowhere in the league for that," Tucker told Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports.
"Nobody care about his reputation. I could care less. I don’t even know who he is. He’s happy he just got back in the league," Tucker added.
For his part, Stephenson owned up to his error and apologized to the Raptors for getting caught up in the hype of toppling a 19-point deficit in his Pacers homecoming.
"I wasn't surprised (by the reaction). I was caught in the moment. I just wanted to say sorry to them, I didn't mean no harm. Crowd was cheering me on and I just wanted to do it for the fans."
