Matthew McConaughey is one of the biggest Texas fans in the world, but when it came to drawing inspiration for his character in the new movie "Gold," he channeled the look of West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen.

The film stars McConaughey as Kenny Wells, a 1980s precious metals prospector, who strikes it rich in Indonesia with a gold mine. When it came time to trim his hair for the role, the 47-year-old knew what look to go for.

"You know where it really came from?" McConaughey said to Joe Gross of the Austin American-Statesman. "I haven't told anyone else this. I went to the hair lady, said, 'It's this guy's hair,' and handed her a picture of Dana Holgorsen."

The Mountaineers coach is famous in college football circles for his thinning hair that has a mind of its own whenever a gust of wind kicks up.

Take a look at the trailer and decide for yourself how close McConaughey's hair resembles Holgorsen.

Holgorsen appears more than happy to have helped, as he tweeted his support later on Wednesday night.
