Heat's Dragic refutes trade talk: 'I would like to stay here'
Goran Dragic is doing his best to publicly shoot down any idea that he wants the Miami Heat to trade him. A day after Dragic strongly denied he was open to a move, he reiterated his intention of staying in South Florida.
"I would like to stay here," the point guard said Friday, according to the Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman. "I feel comfortable in Miami. I feel great. We have a young team. I really got connected with the young guys, and I feel young, too."
The 30-year-old has emerged as a logical trade candidate, given his skill set and the Heat's struggles and youthful roster. On Thursday, The Vertical's Chris Mannix said Dragic was "open" to a deal.
Following Thursday's win over the Los Angeles Lakers, Dragic emphatically shot down the report, saying "that's not true." He later described the rumor as "bullshit."
On Friday, Dragic said he regretted his initial reaction.
"That was the first time that I heard about that," he said. "I feel bad because I reacted like that."
The Slovenian is averaging 19.2 points and 6.7 assists this season, while posting career-high 42.1 percent 3-point shooting across 25 games.
