Report: Players plan to form wearables committee in new CBA
As part of the league's new collective bargaining agreement, players plan to form a wearables committee to regulate the use of biometric devices in seasons to come, sources tell ESPN's Tom Haberstroh.
The use of such devices would allow teams to better track players' workloads, and could limit the amount of games that star players miss due to rest on an annual basis.
As of now, in-game biometric devices are banned by the NBA, but the committee would look to see which devices could be permitted in the future.
Ex-Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova wore a fitness wristband for 15 games last season before the NBA banned the use of the device.
A heart study was conducted earlier this year with the hope of reducing cardiac risks for NBA players following the recent deaths of Moses Malone, Anthony Mason, and Darryl Dawkins.
