Smith's triple-double leads New Hampshire in opener
DURHAM, N.H. (AP) Jaleen Smith had a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as New Hampshire opened the season with an 85-60 win over Division III Lesley University on Friday.
Tanner Leissner added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats. Daniel Dion scored 15 points and Jordan Reed 13.
New Hampshire took control early, scoring the first 10 points of the game and leading 47-17 at the half. The Wildcats limited the Lynx to 36 percent shooting and forced 12 turnovers while shooting 51 percent, including 8 of 16 from 3-point range.
The Wildcats finished 30 of 59 from the field with 11 3s and had a 44-26 rebounding advantage. Reed and freshman Kijana Love both hit three from beyond the arc.
LaMarr Mitchell had 18 points and Devon Mayo 10 for the Lynx.
