Canton Kaumatule's career at Oregon is over due to injuries, as the sophomore defensive lineman has been removed from the roster.

The news was confirmed by Rob Moseley, editor of the official Ducks website, stating Kaumatule "has been declared a medical hardship" and "won't play at Oregon again."

Kaumatule came to Oregon as a highly touted recruit, ranked by ESPN as the 15th overall prospect in the 2015 class. According to ESPN rankings, the Honolulu native is the only five-star recruit the Ducks have landed in the past 10 years.

While the option exists for Kaumatule to transfer and play elsewhere, head coach Mark Helfrich used the term "medical retirement" when discussing the move, indicating Kaumatule intends to stay at Oregon.

The 6-foot-7, 295-pounder battled various injuries throughout his Oregon career, posting just four tackles. He appeared in two games this season, and has been inactive the past three contests.
