Blue Jays most recent World Series champions among remaining teams

With the San Francisco Giants eliminated from postseason contention, the 2016 World Series winner will come from a team that hasn't been crowned champion this millennium.

Of the five teams remaining, the Toronto Blue Jays were the last to win it all when they wrapped up back-to-back championships in 1993.

The Blue Jays will face the Cleveland Indians in the American League Championship Series beginning Friday, while the Cubs will head back to Chicago and await the winner of the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers. The National League CS opens Saturday.

Washington's title came from the Senators in 1924.
