Twitter shows no mercy for Mavericks' 'NBA 101' class for women
The 2016-17 NBA season is approaching, and if you're a woman who wants to learn about the game, the Dallas Mavericks have got you covered.
The Mavs are hosting their annual "NBA 101" event where, for the low price of $125, women can enjoy a "girl's night out" and learn all about the sport in a "fun, light, and interactive atmosphere."
Hey girl, hey, come to #NBA101 9/13! Mavs players, dinner & bball all filled in 1 night! https://t.co/Z8ljJd3IgX pic.twitter.com/wjQEYBMNSP

The message, pink font, and overall concept of the event didn't sit well with some people, who didn't hold back on Twitter.

@Jappaji4 Hosting a women-only event to “teach” basketball implies that women need to be taught. When’s the last men’s 101 clinic? I’ll wait

.@dallasMavs, the fact you think women need an #NBA101 class & men don't is insulting; I can give you a list of 300 men that could benefit

Team owner Mark Cuban responded - sort of - to a few tweets directed to him:
@kmattio @dallasmavs agree. But when we tried to change the name our customers complained

@kmattio @dallasmavs I forget. It was several years ago

@kmattio @dallasmavs my customers >PC

Despite all the backlash, plenty of people have attended NBA 101 in the past and enjoyed it.
Just Registered! So excited to go to the @dallasmavs #NBA101 again! 🏀🏀🏀 #MFFL #GoMavs https://t.co/abTCzRvpXq
