Patriots' Tyler Gaffney: Scores TD in preseason opener

Gaffney finished Thursday's preseason game with 64 yards (including a 44-yard touchdown run) on nine second-half carries, CSN New England reports.

Analysis:

Gaffney has had his last two campaigns cut short by preseason injuries, so to see him in a game this far into the summer is a new look for the 2014 sixth-rounder. To date, Gaffney has seen plenty of reps in training camp, though at this point returnees LeGarrette Blount and Brandon Bolden are presumably ahead of him in the Patriots' between-the-tackles RB pecking order.
