Marc Gasol: 'Guess' is brother Pau signs with Spurs

Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol offered an unusually candid opinion regarding another player's free agency Monday, suggesting his brother Pau may be leaning toward signing with the San Antonio Spurs this summer.

"If I had to guess - not that I've talked to him about it - would be San Antonio," Marc told reporters at the Grizzlies' season-ending media availability.

Pau, who turns 36 in July, is expected to opt out of his contract with the Chicago Bulls and become an unrestricted free agent. Chicago is likely poised to go in a different direction personnel-wise and could bid adieu to the likes of Joakim Noah as well.

Despite his age, the elder Gasol has remained in the league's upper echelon of power forwards the past three years. He averaged a double-double with the Bulls the last two seasons and has shot below 48 percent from the floor only once in his 15-year NBA career.

He could possibly extend Tim Duncan's career by taking starter's minutes at center for the Spurs while also backing up LaMarcus Aldridge at power forward. The Spurs signed David West to the veteran's minimum this season for that purpose.

Pau's expected to be pursued by several teams, including his younger brother's Grizzlies.
