Jon Jones addresses alleged racial profiling by Albuquerque police officer
It's going to be a while before Jon Jones and the Albuquerque Police Department are on good terms.
A recent run-in with the law that saw Jones receive tickets for multiple driving violations nearly ended in the light heavyweight contender receiving a prison sentence for violating his probation. Instead, his probation was reinstated after Jones agreed to complete anger management and driving improvement courses.
One reason why Jones avoided a stiffer penalty may have to do with the racial profiling complaints that have been levied against attending officer Jason Brown.
On Monday, Jones posted a video on Instagram of a television report detailing the allegations. The post was accompanied by a message recounting the encounter with Brown:
"Having him stand there, look me in the eyes and start accusing me of several things he and I both know I didn't do made me feel betrayed by the community," Jones wrote. "He made me feel powerless. He made me feel like what was actually true had no power over him."
Jones made sure to mention the admiration he has for law enforcement in general, which only made the incident with Brown all the more surprising.
"Fortunately, I know better than to let one person ruin my views of a whole group," Jones wrote. "Just glad someone is finally bringing light to who I was dealing with that night."
