MLB Waiver Watch - Sunday Edition

Here's a look at three players to target on waivers in season-long fantasy baseball:

SS/2B Aledmys Diaz, Cardinals

With Cardinals everyday SS Jhonny Peralta nursing a broken hand, Diaz has come off the radar to steal playing time from utility infielders Jedd Gyorko and Ruben Tejada - Peralta's presumed replacements.

Diaz has been hot at the plate, going 4-for-9 in three games played, including a triple and home run. His ceiling is higher than the other aforementioned players but will likely hit near the bottom of the Cardinals' batting order.

He's available in almost every league and is a valuable stash on your bench. He'll continue to see time at SS until Peralta is healthy, and he's worth starting in deep leagues when he plays.

2B Scooter Gennett, Brewers

Gennett has started off the season on fire, currently riding a five game hit-streak that has included a solo shot, two RBI and five runs scored - making him a hot waiver wire pick up this week.

His hot start has been overshadowed by the unbelievable play of Rockies' rookie SS Trevor Story. Gennett hits extremely well against RHPs and with games against the Cardinals' Michael Wacha and Mike Leake, the streak could continue. He boasts value in head-to-head leagues and is a terrific deep league start.

C Miguel Montero, Cubs

As mentioned in our Fantasy Fallout feature, Montero is a prime season-long option if you were an owner of Cubs C/LF Kyle Schwarber, who was on the wrong end of a head-on collision with teammate Dexter Fowler.

Montero has been a stellar offensive catcher throughout his career and will get his chance to be the Cubs' everyday catcher. His ownership is still relatively low, and has gone yard once and produced four RBI in three games. Nab him if you are in need of help at the catcher position.
