Notre Dame beats Michigan to advance to Frozen Four final
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got a goal from forward Jake Evans with less than six seconds left in the third period Thursday night to defeat the Michigan Wolverines 4-3 and advance to the Frozen Four final.
Evans' game-winner was his second goal of the night, as the seventh-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens was easily the Fighting Irish's player of the game. The captain also chipped in with an assist on Andrew Oglevie's second-period power-play tally.
Michigan took it to Notre Dame over the first period and a half, but following Oglevie's goal, the tide turned heavily in the Irish's favor, capped off with Evans' late winner.
Notre Dame advances to the national championship for the second time in school history where it will take on the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
