Maxim Letunov is ready to turn pro and has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks, the team announced Wednesday.

"Max is a talented scorer and playmaker who has utilized his high-end speed and creativity to produce at every level that he has played," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said in a statement.

Letunov has spent the past three seasons with the University of Connecticut, where he has tallied 12 goals and 16 assists in 36 games this year.

A second-round draft choice by the St. Louis Blues in 2014, Letunov was dealt to the Arizona Coyotes the following year. He was acquired by the Sharks from the Coyotes in 2016.
