Oregon plugged a hole along its offensive line by adding Notre Dame transfer Matt Hegarty, the team announced Tuesday.

Hegarty started 11 games for the Irish between center and guard this past season. He announced that he would transfer in March after the Notre Dame coaching staff pushed him to switch positions - something he was not prepared to do in his final year of eligibility.

Hegarty arrived in South Bend as a four-star recruit. He was ranked as the 36th overall prospect in the recruiting class of 2011 by ESPN.

As a graduate transfer, Hegarty will be immediately eligible to play in Eugene.
