It was an emotional day for No. 14.

For four seasons, quarterback David Ash led the Texas Longhorns, compiling 4,728 passing yards and 31 touchdowns.

But after suffering multiple concussions and dealing with inescapable lingering symptoms, Ash announced in September that he was retiring from football.

Before the Longhorns hosted TCU at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin on Thursday, the school held its Senior Day festivities, giving Ash the goodbye he deserved.

When Ash emerged from the Longhorns' tunnel, he did so with tears in his eyes.

To no one's surprise, he received a standing ovation, experiencing the roar of the home crowd one last time.
