Military Appreciation Day at Penn State will be a chance for the school to honor one of its own.

The Nittany Lions will mark the life of Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who died in Afghanistan in 2005, with a special coin that will be used for the pregame coin toss against Temple on Saturday.

Murphy, a United States Navy SEAL officer, was awarded the Medal of Honor. He graduated from Penn State in 1998 with degrees in political science and psychology.
