A four-star high-school quarterback recruit spending time in a Michigan prison is being investigated in connection with an alleged assault in the Wayne County Jail.
Last week, former Michigan State recruit Jayru Campbell was charged with assault just hours after he was released from jail for a previous crime.
Now the 17-year-old is being investigated for a new incident at the Wayne County Jail. Because he is 17, Campbell is housed in the youthful offender unit with other 17-year-old males, according to the sheriff's office.

Last week, Campbell was arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting his 17-year-old girlfriend at Detroit Cass Tech (Mich.) High School. He was charged with unarmed robbery, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and misdemeanor domestic violence assault and battery.
Campbell decommitted from the Spartans in June, just a month after being sent to jail for body-slamming a school security guard who asked him to remove his hood.
On Friday, he was finally released from his 60-day sentence for that incident when students and teachers intervened after he was seen allegedly choking his girlfriend inside the school.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Detroit police spokesman Sgt. Michael Woody said the 17-year-old was brought to the Detroit Detention Center, where he will be held on an assault charge.
Campbell had already established a track record of violence prior to his 60-day sentence.
Last November, he punched a Detroit Catholic Central player in the handshake line following a Cass Tech playoff loss. College Football Talk said Campbell was suspended for three to five days by the school immediately following that incident. He was also suspended for the 2014 season opener, which he served during his 60-day stint in jail.
The name "God's Gift" is written on a Twitter account that appears to belong to Campbell.

A YouTube video featuring a song by "Young Ru" is also featured on @JayruCampbell's Twitter account. It details the artist's childhood, distance from his father and revolves around a struggle for self improvement.
Campbell was rated as the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2015, but it looks like his football aspirations could be all but finished after this latest show of violence.
