Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei announced Monday that he entered the transfer portal.

Uiagalelei, the nation's top-ranked pocket passer in the 2020 class, struggled in the final stretch of the 2022 season and was benched for freshman Cade Klubnik in multiple games. Uiagalelei tossed only five touchdowns against five interceptions while completing 59% of his passes in the final six contests of the campaign.

The junior was pulled for a final time in Saturday's ACC Championship Game victory over North Carolina after he started with just two completions on five attempts.

Uiagalelei spent three seasons at Clemson, including two as a starter. In 2021 - his first year as the starter - the signal-caller threw for nine touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He responded with 22 touchdowns and seven picks in 2022.

The junior passer first burst onto the scene while filling in for former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence in a 2020 shootout loss to Notre Dame. He threw for 439 yards with two touchdowns.

He will end his Clemson tenure with 5,681 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions.
