Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel was taken off the field after being hit in the head by TCU linebacker Jamoi Hodge while attempting to slide in the second quarter of Saturday's game.

Gabriel walked off the field under his own power and spent time in the team's medical tent before going to the locker room, according to Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman. He didn't return for the remainder of the contest.

Referees assessed Hodge with a targeting penalty that resulted in his ejection from the game.

Backup Davis Beville replaced Gabriel following the injury.

Gabriel completed 7 of 16 passes for 126 yards before exiting the Big 12 matchup. The Mililani, Hawaii, native entered Saturday having thrown for 1,089 yards, 11 touchdowns, and zero interceptions with a 66.7% completion rate this season.

The 2022 campaign marks Gabriel's first with the Sooners after beginning his collegiate career at UCF.

TCU went on to defeat Oklahoma 55-24, handing the Sooners their second straight loss.
