Former UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel is joining Chip Kelly at UCLA, he announced Thursday.

Gabriel entered the transfer portal Nov. 27 after three seasons with the Knights, throwing for 8,037 yards, 70 touchdowns and 14 interceptions during his career.

He won the starting job as a true freshman in 2019 with McKenzie Milton injured and kept it until breaking his collarbone against Louisville in September. He didn't play again in 2021.

UCLA redshirt freshman Parker McQuarrie and freshman Kajiya Hollawayne have entered the portal, meaning Gabriel will likely compete with Ethan Garbers for the Bruins' starting job should Dorian Thompson-Robinson declare for the NFL draft.
