Alex "Sonny" Styles, a 2023 safety/linebacker, will reclassify to join Ohio State's 2022 recruiting class, Jarrod Ulrey of ThisWeek Newspapers reports.

The five-star, in-state recruit committed to the Buckeyes on Nov. 13 but sought to enroll early and submitted a request to the Pickerington school board, which was approved Wednesday, according to Ulrey.

Styles is currently ranked the top 2023 prospect in the state of Ohio and the ninth overall recruit in 2023 on the ESPN Jr. 300. He is the son of former Ohio State linebacker Lorenzo Styles Sr.

Styles is scheduled to sign his letter of intent Dec. 15, the first day of the early signing period, and will enroll at Ohio State in June, Bill Kurelic of 247 Sports reports.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound defender would be the highest-rated recruit in Ohio State's 2022 class and would join the likes of linebacker C.J. Hicks, defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr., and quarterback Devin Brown.

Styles becomes the second Ohio State pledge to reclassify in the last two years. Quarterback Quinn Ewers joined the program this past season before entering the transfer portal.
