LSU appeared ready to deliver a Brinks truck to lure head coach Jimbo Fisher from Texas A&M.

The Tigers prepared to offer an eight-year, $125-million contract to Fisher in late November for their vacant head coaching role at the time, the Action Network's Brett McMurphy reports.

LSU athletic director Scott Woodward reached out to Fisher prior to the final weekend of the regular season to gauge his interest before targeting Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, according to Ross Dellenger, Pat Forde, and Richard Johnson of Sports Illustrated.

Fisher's name was frequently floated in rumors for the LSU opening before the program made a stunning move to hire Kelly on a 10-year, $95-million deal.

The Texas A&M coach has put up a 34-14 record since joining the program in 2018.
