Mullen doesn't want to discuss recruiting after loss to Georgia

Florida head coach Dan Mullen was quick to shut down questions about recruiting during his Monday press conference following Saturday's 34-7 loss to No. 1 Georgia.

"We're in the season now, we'll do recruiting after the season - when it gets to recruiting time, we can talk about recruiting," Mullen told reporters, including The Gainesville Sun's Graham Hall.

After the blowout in Jacksonville, Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart emphasized the importance of recruiting.

"There's no coach out there who can outcoach recruiting," he said Saturday, according to OutKick's Trey Wallace. "That's why I believe in recruiting, and I believe you better always be recruiting. Always be recruiting, because if you're not, someone else is."

Former Mississippi State coach Mullen is 4-7 in his last 11 games. According to Blake Toppmeyer of USA Today, Mullen has signed two five-star prospects in his four classes with the Gators. Smart has landed 20 five-star players over the same time span and has recruited one of the nation's top classes in each of those four years.

The Bulldogs currently lead the 2022 class rankings. Florida sits 23rd in the country and seventh in the SEC after four-star cornerback Julian Humphrey recently decommitted.

Following Mullen's press conference, Florida canceled all player and coordinator media availabilities this week outside of Wednesday's teleconference of SEC football coaches, according to Hall.
