Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux isn't playing in Saturday's marquee game versus Ohio State after suffering an ankle sprain in the Ducks' season opener.

Thibodeaux stood on the sideline in street clothes while his teammates warmed up on the field pregame, according to The Athletic's Bruce Feldman. The Ducks were hopeful he'd play against the Buckeyes, as head coach Mario Cristobal had said the injury didn't seem to be particularly serious.

One of the top prospects eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft, Thibodeaux had a sack-fumble in last week's win over Fresno State before exiting; he was subsequently fitted for a walking boot. The 20-year-old was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2020 and won Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2019.

Ducks linebacker Justin Flowe is also out against the Buckeyes with a walking boot on his right foot, according to The Oregonian's James Crepea.

Oregon and Ohio State are ranked No. 12 and No. 3 in the nation, respectively.
