Northwestern will be without star running back Cam Porter and offensive lineman Zachary Franks for the 2021 season after both players suffered lower-body injuries during training camp, the team announced Tuesday.

Porter broke out in the second half of his freshman 2020 season, leading the team in rushing with 333 yards and five touchdowns on 81 attempts across five (of seven) regular-season games. He rushed for the Wildcats' only touchdown in their Big Ten championship loss to Ohio State before finishing the year with a touchdown in Northwestern's Citrus Bowl win over Auburn.

Franks appeared in eight contests as a redshirt freshman for Northwestern in 2020.
