LSU quarterback Myles Brennan is out indefinitely after suffering a left arm injury that will require surgery, head coach Ed Orgeron announced Monday.

Brennan's return timetable has yet to be determined.

The senior signal-caller broke the humerus bone in his arm and is set to undergo surgery Tuesday, sources told Brody Miller of The Athletic. The injury reportedly occurred as he landed on his arm while suffering a scary fall.

Brennan was in the mix for the Tigers' starting job this offseason alongside Max Johnson.

A former four-star recruit, Brennan impressed in the three starts he made last season, racking up 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns before an abdominal injury sidelined him for the remainder of the year.

Johnson posted a 2-1 record as a starter in 2020. In six total appearances last year, he threw for 1,069 passing yards and eight touchdowns against one interception.

LSU, which is set to open its season against UCLA on Sept. 4, also has 2021 four-star recruit Garrett Nussmeier on its quarterback depth chart.
