Miami quarterback D'Eriq King said Wednesday he remains on track to start the season opener against Alabama on Sept. 4 following offseason knee surgery.
"I feel 100%. I'm not limited to do anything," King said, according to ESPN's Andrea Adelson. "So I'm out there, throwing on the run, rolling out, cutting at full speed. I feel good. I don't notice any limitations in my knee."
King suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in the Cheez-It Bowl against Oklahoma State in December. He had announced his intention to return for the 2021 season the week before the game.
The 23-year-old's rehab has been ahead of schedule since he underwent surgery in January, and he expects to be a full participant in fall practice in August.
"I had a really good surgeon and good physical therapists," King said. "I've been through this before, and this is the best treatment and rehab I've gotten. They had a great plan. I changed little things, too, from diet to sleep habits to doing rehab twice a day."
King produced an outstanding first campaign with the Hurricanes after transferring from Houston. The dual-threat quarterback threw for 2,686 yards and 23 touchdowns against five interceptions, adding 538 yards and four scores on the ground.
