Former LSU quarterback TJ Finley announced Monday he's transferring to Auburn.

The signal-caller entered the transfer portal earlier this month following his freshman campaign at LSU. Alabama, Houston, and Penn State were the other finalists as Finley's preferred transfer destinations.

"I felt like God led me to do this," Finley said of his decision, according to Keith Niebuhr of 247Sports. "It was the best situation for me as a quarterback."

Finley replaced injured Myles Brennan as LSU's starter midway through the 2020 season, completing 57.1% of his pass attempts for 941 yards and five touchdowns against five interceptions through five appearances.

Auburn's quarterback depth chart currently features Bo Nix, Grant Loy, and Dematrius Davis. Nix, who's been the Tigers' starter over the last two seasons, led the team with 2,415 yards and 12 touchdown passes through 11 appearances last year.

The SEC is expected to follow other conferences and change its intraconference transfer rules next month, giving Finley four years of eligibility remaining beginning this season.
