Indiana and head coach Tom Allen agreed to a restructured seven-year contract, the school announced Monday.

His new deal will run through 2027 and pay him an average salary of $4.9 million.

It includes a provision which states he'll have a year added to the end of his contract for every season the program makes a bowl game. His salary will increase $200,000 each season to a maximum of $5.5 million per year, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.

Allen receives a raise of $1 million per season from the $3.9-million salary of his previous contract.

"The enthusiasm and outlook for our program is at an all-time high, and the future of Indiana Football is in great hands," Indiana vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics Scott Dolson said. "I look forward to Tom leading our program for many years to come."

The 50-year-old has produced a 24-22 record since becoming head coach in 2016. He previously served as defensive coordinator during the 2016 season.

"I'm excited about what we are building here and how we are building it," Allen said. "Having said that, we have unfinished business that we will continue to chase after every single day."

The Hoosiers have risen as high as seventh and concluded the 2020 campaign in the 12th spot on the AP rankings. Allen earned the Big Ten Coach of the Year and American Football Coaches Association National Coach of the Year honor after leading Indiana to a 6-2 record last year.
