Four-star quarterback recruit Jake Garcia decommitted from USC on Thursday, he announced.

"I want to thank (head) coach (Clay) Helton, (offensive coordinator) (Graham) Harrell, and (offensive quality control analyst) (Seth) Doege and the USC coaching staff for the opportunity to play at the next level," Garcia wrote. "However, after many discussions with my family and careful consideration, I am decommitting from USC. Doing so will allow me to honestly evaluate my options as the early signing date quickly approaches. No love has been lost for the USC family."

Garcia is the 18th-ranked prospect on the ESPN 300 and the second-best pocket-passer quarterback to Sam Huard, who committed to Washington.

The Loganville, Georgia, native announced his commitment to the Trojans in September 2019. He was a big reward for the program, which lost Bryce Young to Alabama at the time.

USC, which saw quarterback JT Daniels transfer to Georgia in the offseason, also landed four-star signal-caller recruit Miller Moss in June.

The early signing period is set to begin on Dec. 16.
