Every week during the college football season, we'll recap all the notes bettors may have missed over the weekend and discuss how to apply them in future handicapping.

The theme of Week 11? Offense.

Vanderbilt's starting to figure it out

Vanderbilt? Vanderbilt?

That's right; 0-6 Vandy gets the top spot in our recap.

A unit that didn't score more than 12 points in each of the first three games is quietly putting it together behind freshman quarterback Ken Seals. He and the Commodores put up nearly 500 yards of offense on Mississippi State in Week 10 but mustered only 17 points due to five turnovers in the Bulldogs' territory. Then this past week, they hung 35 on a stout Kentucky defense and nearly won outright as 18-point 'dogs.

Vanderbilt's only been featured in one total higher than 50 all season. It might be time for oddsmakers to rethink that.

The Commodores are officially an 'over' team from here on out.

North Carolina's shattering totals

Nobody shatters totals quite like North Carolina. The Tar Heels just went over the number for the fourth straight week, combining for 112 points with Wake Forest.

Quite frankly, none of the totals over the last month have been remotely close. The Tar Heels and their opponents have surpassed the closing total by an average of 25 points per game over that stretch.

Head coach Mack Brown finally realized his offense could flirt with 50 a game. The only downside is his pass defense has been non-existent, ranking No. 97 in the country.

Best of luck to oddsmakers setting the total for North Carolina-Notre Dame next week. The Fighting Irish have averaged just shy of 38 points per game this season.

Don't lose faith in Indiana totals

Indiana went under the total for the first time Saturday, beating Michigan State 24-0. However, this is likely an outlier. I'd still look to bet the Hoosiers over the total.

Indiana just can't get its run offense going. The Hoosiers averaged 3.0 yards per carry over the last two games, forcing quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to record 88 total passing attempts.

He'll have to live and die through the air again in Week 12 against Ohio State, which has done whatever it wants offensively this season. There'll be plenty of pace, big plays, and points in this one - and beyond - for pass-happy Indiana.
