Four-star defensive tackle Damon Payne, the top-rated recruit from the state of Michigan, announced on Sunday his commitment to Alabama.
Payne is ranked 25th overall on the ESPN 300 and third among defensive tackles in the 2021 class.
Arizona State, USC, Kentucky, and Michigan State were the other top contenders for Payne, who grew up about half an hour away from Ann Arbor, where Michigan is stationed.
Payne is the ninth top-100 prospect from the 2021 cycle to commit to the Crimson Tide.
