Georgia landed former Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman on a graduate transfer just days after star signal-caller Jake Fromm declared for the NFL draft, the pivot announced on Saturday.

Newman considered transferring to Maryland, Miami, Oregon, and Washington, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.

He announced the decision to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 31, saying he would go with the school that will best prepare him for the pro level. Newman threw for 2,868 yards with 26 passing touchdowns in 2019 while also rushing for 574 yards and six scores.

Georgia posted a 12-2 record in 2019, finishing the campaign with a Sugar Bowl victory over Baylor. The Bulldogs hold a 44-12 record since hiring Kirby Smart in 2016, with one playoff appearance and three bowl wins.

Newman will battle for the starting role at Georgia with junior Stetson Bennett, redshirt freshman D'Wan Mathis, and freshman Carson Beck.
