After undergoing foot surgery, Northwestern quarterback TJ Green will miss the entire 2019 campaign, head coach Pat Fitzgerald confirmed Thursday, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

Green, the son of former NFL quarterback Trent Green, hurt his foot in the second half of Saturday's loss to Stanford. The fifth-year senior has been a backup throughout his collegiate career and lost the competition for the starting job to Hunter Johnson this summer.

Green could apply for a sixth season because the injury happened in the first game this year.

Johnson went 6 of 17 for 55 yards and a pair of interceptions against Stanford.
