Pac-12 decides against 9 a.m. PT kickoffs, may revisit in future

The Pac-12 announced on Wednesday it has opted not to implement any 9 a.m. PT kickoffs this season due to time constraints, but the conference is interested in reconsidering the idea in the future, according to ESPN's Kyle Bonagura.

"Our interested schools need more lead time for discussions with all relevant stakeholders," said Andrew Walker, the vice president of public affairs for the Pac-12. "There is interest from Fox and there is interest from some of our schools, but need more time to plan properly."

At Pac-12 football media day in July, commissioner Larry Scott expressed interest in playing a couple of games in the time slot. Fan frustration with late-night kickoffs in part prompted the preliminary discussions.

Pac-12 coaches, such as UCLA's Chip Kelly and Cal's Justin Wilcox, are interested in playing an early game.
