Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson has agreed to a contract extension with the program through 2026, the school announced Tuesday.

Clawson and his coaching staff will receive significant pay raises, sources told Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.

"I am excited to know that Dave Clawson will be the football coach at Wake Forest for a long, long time," director of athletics Ron Wellman said in a statement. "Our desire is for him to finish his coaching career at Wake Forest and we have every reason to believe that will be the case."

The Demon Deacons finished 7-6 in 2018 and captured their third straight bowl victory, a 37-34 win over Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl.

The 51-year-old Clawson has compiled a 28-35 record in five seasons at Wake Forest, but has gone 22-17 over the last three years.

Clawson joined the Demon Deacons after leading Bowling Green to the MAC championship in 2013.
