Clemson and head coach Dabo Swinney have agreed to a 10-year, $93 million contract extension, sources told The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

The deal makes Swinney the highest-paid coach in college football history.

His contract surpasses the 10-year, $75 million agreement Texas A&M gave Jimbo Fisher after the 2017 season.

It's also greater than Alabama head coach Nick Saban's contract, who made $8.3 million last year and is set to earn $8.7 million in 2019.

The new deal keeps Swinney with the Tigers through 2029 and includes standard buyout language should the 49-year-old leave for another coaching job. His buyout increases by 50 percent if he chooses to join Alabama, according to The Athletic's Matt Fortuna.

Swinney took over head coach duties for Clemson in 2008. He's accumulated a 116-30 record since then while winning two national championships over the past three years. He's also won five ACC titles.

Clemson is expected to compete for the national championship again in 2019 with quarterback Trevor Lawrence returning. Clemson’s 2020 recruiting class currently ranks first nationally.
